Orkney Charitable Trust was set up in June 2014. Our mission is to provide financial help for people under 25 living in Orkney during times of ill health, disability, hardship or disadvantage. Financial support is available to these people and their families in the form of grants, loans or other support.
The Trust is managed by a Board of Trustees who oversee all of the Trust's work through a series of regular board meetings. There are currently four trustees:
Craig Spence (Chair)
Mairi Fleet
Lynne Spence
Marie O'Sullivan
We remember with fondness Rita Jamieson, who was a founding trustee.
Our core values
Focused: We are a locally-focused, locally-based independent charity, clear on where we direct our resources to have the maximum impact.
Creative: We strive to take an innovative approach to our work in order to foresee the types of hardship that young people in Orkney may face, so that we are ready to help.
Responsive: We aim to be responsive and to quickly provide support and assistance to young people when they really need it.
Caring: We take the utmost care in dealing with the challenges faced by young people in Orkney and in using our resources to make a difference. We believe in hope.
Trusted: We will continuously seek to build a trusted rapport throughout the community. Confidentiality is paramount to us.
We are keen to engage with individuals and groups who share our vision and who can help raise funds to support our work. Please get in touch if you can help.
