Cracking Christmas Jumpers - 2019
We are launching our second “Cracking Christmas Jumper Day”, where we ask local workplaces, businesses and groups to dress up in their Christmas Jumpers (or anything else!) and raise money for the Orkney Charitable Trust. Last year was such a success, with over 350 Christmas Jumpers worn, all round the county. We want to make this year even bigger!
You will be able to download this years letter, and pack from the links below - have fun!

Every Child Deserves A Christmas
This years scheme is now open for applications, with a closing date of 17 December 2019.
Life brings unexpected challenges, and at Christmas these pressures can feel even greater. We are here to support young people in our community in times of ill-health, disadvantage, hardship and disability. This grant provides assistance towards a Child’s Christmas.
To be eligible for the £50 grant the child must be under 16 on 25 December 2019, and your form must be countersigned by an appropriate referrer. More information on the form below.
Any questions at all please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Every Child Should Be Warm In Bed
We are delighted to announce the reintroduction of this scheme, just in time for winter 2019. Each 'Warm in Bed Bundle' contains a duvet (tog dependent on age), a pillow, a fitted sheet, a duvet cover & pillow case, a cosy under blanket and, if requested, a waterproof mattress cover.
This has been made possible by a very generous donation from the Nationwide Building Society, so huge thanks must go to the fantastic staff at the (award winning) Kirkwall branch.

Help from Home Grant Allowances Extended
In June 2018, Orkney Charitable Trust launched a new Orkney-only grant scheme, to provide financial support for local families who require help when a child needs to access an NHS hospital south.
The Trust are now pleased to announce that allowances have been extended to include a return flight back to Orkney for an additional parent, under the grant scheme.
Help from Home grants are available to families who are struggling financially, to support them with additional expenses incurred when travelling south with children for NHS hospital appointments or treatment. Whilst the child’s needs may be covered, a parent or carer may have additional costs such as food, laundry and local travel.
